by Richard Back Ah~ That feeling of accomplishment when your little coral fragment grows into a miniature colony then into a gorgeous, mature colony. Not only it shows that you have the blue thumb, now you are entering a realm of elite reefers who keeps mature corals and become the person to envy to your fellow reefing friends. It's a great feeling to have for sure and many of us strive to reach that level of success. Recently I have been notified that my friends at Hydra Aquatics International had gotten a hold of a 100% aquacultured massive Pink Booby Chalice (Echinophyllia spp) and I got my tail out there to check it out. Measuring at 11" x 8", this massive colony was a sight to see. Hundreds of eyes, plating well over it's base rock, it was magnificent piece to say the very least. I was told that Hydra will keep the majority of the colony to grow out on their grow out display tank but will start making certain amount of frags available for their customers. Be sure to keep an eye out on their facebook page here and their website here for more information on it's availablity if you are interested in obtaining piece of this beauty. Meanwhile, tell me what is your biggest coral? Show off your biggest colony here with your fellow reefers!
Happy reefing! |
